The house leans towards the north side of the plot, filling in the allotments that slope down the headland. From this quadrant, the spaces (entrance, kitchen, corridor and master bedroom) are served by courtyards, which combine the natural elevations with the domestic space and filter the irregularity of the plot’s boundary. The mains spaces open onto the garden, free from construction and with a privileged view over the Ria de Aveiro on the horizon. The plan is a linear succession of spaces, divided by the parallelism of the structural laminae and covered by a triangular-shaped slab; its geometry allows the creation of a porch and the protection of the glazing from the sunlight coming from the south, gives an angle on the view to the west. The vertical surface of the entire building is enclosed by a structure of septa and opaque solid wood panels, which support large planes of glass, the combination of which gives the interior of the building a charismatic relationship with the landscape. The domestic atmosphere is strongly characterised by the use of wood and glass; their materiality, colour, texture, opacity and transparency are coordinated in a functional and visual balance. The conventional single-family programme is complemented by an indoor swimming pool, which opens onto the garden through a movable glass leaf, whose total opening, in a vertical cabriolet, enables the exteriorisation of the space in full. The house is a single storey, with the exception of a studio-library space dug below ground level, fully lit by an English patio, which separates the building from the street that serves as its access. The roof, in zinc sheeting, gives way to a terrace. A rectangular eyepiece, to absorb the panoramic view of the Ria, whose access creates yet another level to the metal staircase that verticalizes the construction, mainly horizontal. This architectural element stands out, signalling the presence of the villa in the surrounding area and creating an identity device of façade composition, whose abstraction is dominant.
