Testemunhos (Testimonies), curated by Sérgio Mah, is a photographic and video exhibition that portrays day-to-day work in various socio-economic environments and contexts. 10 artists (André Cepeda, António Júlio Duarte, Augusto Alves da Silva, Augusto Brázio, Catarina Alves Costa, João Serra, Kathleen Gomes, Patricia Almeida, Pedro Letria and Sandra Rocha) depicted people and places to create a narrative portrait of daily life in the professional world. Held in the Furnas space of the old Porto Customs House, which is characterised by vaulted naves, resting on Tudor arches and granite pillars, the set-up proposes the construction of neutral continuous planes for the photographs and videos which take on a leading role in the setting. To support these planes, a modular structure in timber was created, fastened to the existing stone pillars. The setting created unfolds within a dialogue of opposites between the heavy and perennial existing structure and the lightness of the wooden brackets that structure the exhibition plane.
